What a Week

My baby is growing up. They say kids grow up fast, but I just had no idea. Since Tuesday, Cole has flushed the toilet (while I was using it, mind you), waved hello, opened the mailbox, rang the doorbell and just yesterday he took his first steps holding onto the coffee table. What a ride! It's every cliche you've ever heard...only better.

I Stand Corrected

Turns out my husband is just as much of a "lake person" as he is "beach person." After my post about how much we love the beach, he promptly corrected me, and threatened to change the post.

I'm going on record to say Wade loves both the beach and the lake.

He claims we've had this discussion before. I guess it's one of those things in our marriage I choose to ignore because I want him to be solely a beach person. He'll come around.

Whew...

I'm tired. No one ever told me how exhausting the beach is when you drag along a kid. Don't get me wrong, we had a blast. But, wow. Even Cole was exhausted...the poor guy slept for 5 hours during the two days following our return home (for those of you that don't know, Cole is NOT a great napper). But, to enjoy a few days at the beach with 10 adults and 8 children (under the age of 5), a lot of work goes into making things run smoothly. Plus, it was worth it to hang out with our friends!

He Likes It

We just returned from a wonderful trip to the beach, and discovered that Cole loves the sand and water...for now. This is Cole's second trip to the beach. He didn't have much of an opinion at 12 weeks. But, at 10 months, he does and it's the right one...thank goodness. You see, Wade and I are beach people. Some people love the lake, others the mountains. Give Wade and I the choice, and we're going to the beach. Good thing Cole thinks the same thing.

Away from the Nest

This week I left Cole for the first time in over six months.

I visited Carrollton for a few days, and decided to leave Cole in my mom's care, so that I could spend some time alone just cleaning, packing and sleeping past 6:30. On the ride back to Birmingham, I just kept thinking about Cole and how I would miss him. Funny enough, by the time I got home I was ok. By the following morning, I was even dreading going to get him. Sometimes momma needs a long break. So, thanks to my momma for allowing me that.

Terrible Toes

So here it is, beautiful summer weather around the corner. Time for comfy flip-flops, strappy heels and thong sandals. Time to hit the beach. Oh, and time for me to show my feet. What's a girl to do when her feet already resemble those of her 80 year-old grandmother? Get a pedicure. Nice suggestion....except, it's not in our budget (lucky for all of us, I did get to leave my monthly brow wax in, thank goodness). And, frankly, I'm not a big fan of pedicures. Don't get me wrong. I love having someone rub my feet and paint my toenails. But, I feel awkward because I'm not sure if I'm suppose to chat up the lady doing my toes. And, when I'm not sure of a situation, I always ramble on about nothing and somehow always wind up with my foot in my mouth (no pun intended). So, to save myself a lot of trouble, I'm simply going to ask each of you to ignore my feet. That would be a huge help. Thanks so much.

On the bright side, my toes are so long that I can pick small items up off the floor (like Cole's hot wheels car, which I did just a few minutes ago).
